Hey Jan--I hope you noticed that I was smiling when I wrote that. It really is a healthy looking plant. Our cactus were all through blooming in November and their stems are much shorter. Must be Washington weather. Joe

Shelli; The only thing I remember is "San Jose Camera", that store was our "arch" competitor of ours. I guess they are still located on First Street in San Jose. They were not far from our Webbs Store. I guess these guys are a new generation of people, as it has been twenty four years since I retired from Webbs on Lincoln Ave. in San Jose. Grandpa

Jeanne
- Tuesday, September 18, 2001 at 21:32:34 (PDT)
Steven, to answer your question: because the two triangular pieces have different slopes, too small to pick up easily by eye. The apparent slope of the triangle made by all 4 pieces put together is concave, not straight. The area is actually smaller than it appears. In the bottom picture the 2 triangles make a convex curve and thus the area of the 4 pieces put together is increased.
Jeanne
- Tuesday, September 18, 2001 at 21:30:36 (PDT)
Jeanne, explain why adding the areas of the respective four shapes in picture 1 do not equal the total area of the triangle (forget about the second picture).
Steven

Jeanne, when your Dad lectures at your Nomine school he will wear his shit-for-brains T-shirt.
Mom
- Tuesday, September 18, 2001 at 09:09:17 (PDT)
Re the logic problem: The small triangle slopes down 2 blocks over the course of 5. The big slopes down 3 blocks over the course of 8. There is a minute difference (16/40 vs. 15/40)in the degree of slope in the two triangles which causes the difference in area when the blocks are rearranged.

my nose!
B

No Kenneth. Your memory is clouded. It was straws in the nose while driving around McDonalds. Perhaps you are confusing french fries with Dad's frequent prayer position (hands clasped, both thumbs under chin, pointer fingers up each nostril). I can see where you might remember the pointer fingers as french fries.
Jeanne

Wasn't it french fries, Jeanne? Mom and dad both stuffed french fries into their noses at McDonalds. It's no wonder we all grew up to be sociopaths.

Glad to help with the thinking cap idea Sandi. Perhaps you should give each of them a tshirt like my dad's "Shit for brains" shirt?
And a real big "You go girl!" to Heather on her return home.

No, I am not in an iron lung. William took that picture and wasn't going to quit screaming at me until I smiled big enough for him.
I'm surprised that no one guessed that Cecil got another bad haircut and decided to cover it up.
Jeanne

B

Shelli, the latetest is QuickTime 5, but it is just out within the
last few days. Version 4.1.2 is the safest. Unfortunately the
installer is about a 7 MB download. It will take 30-45 minutes
to get it--perhaps a lot longer via AOL. The URL is
http://www.appleDOTcom/quicktime/download/support/

"Happy Easter Egg" That is what my father would have said to all today. I had a great Easter there were fifteen people at my mother's house and my Uncle Joe and Aunt Blossom were there. Aunt Blossom made the desert, it was whipping cream with massive fruit and pudding and cake, and of course she assured all of us that she removed all the calories before bringing it to my mothers house... :) Isn't she great?!!! We all think so on this side of the world... Happy days... Elizabeth - Bud and Aggies Eldest Daughter, niece of Uncle Joe and Aunt Blossom (A.K.A. Mom and dad, gran and gram, sister and brother to others...) :)

Actually, my Mom was an elder in the Mormon Church. That is Gus, I can not believe you all recognize him. Mom wanted to marry us off cause she had too many kids to raise and Gus, even at a young age had this twin fantasy. The dresses Mom made for our big day. Without a pattern I might add!
